Ian Machan, PE
A native Portlander, Ian’s passion involves overseeing construction projects that enhance our local community. He loves the challenge and reward in managing diverse project teams of owners, consultants, contractors, and the public.
Outside of work, Ian enjoys the many sporting events and activities his kids are involved in. He relishes any opportunity to travel somewhere sunny with his wife.
What would surprise people about you? How much I enjoy cooking. I love to make homemade pasta and try new recipes on my pellet smoker.
On your bookshelf: Right now, my bookshelf is shared with my kids, so it’s full of Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, and the Chronicles of Narnia.
Favorite quote: “Age Quod Agis” – from my Jesuit High School and Gonzaga days. Literally, it means “do what you are doing” but I learned to take it as “do well in whatever you do”. It’s a statement that has stuck with me my whole life, both personally and professionally.
Favorite food/beverage: Homemade pasta and a local hazy IPA
