The City of Gresham hired Murraysmith to develop a plan to ensure the delivery of clean, safe, drinking water now and for future generations. The City has two sources of supply, the main source being the Bull Run surface water purchased from the City of Portland Water Bureau. Murraysmith’s plan considered significant future service area expansion and incorporated updated inventories of nine pump stations, seven reservoirs, and seven service level pressure zones.
To prevent water quality issues associated with slow reservoir turnover, Murraysmith performed a detailed analysis of high-elevation service level boundaries and developable land. This provided a realistic picture of in-fill growth potential in these upper service levels to facilitate proper sizing of future infrastructure.
Murraysmith also assessed the viability of additional groundwater source development and developed a capital improvement program to recommend projects, initially at five, then 10-year increments, to allow for long-term financing.
